Because I've been here all these years and never won a single contest (also, I don't even own ONE single piece of original artwork )

CREEPSHOW!! 1982 comic, that was then transformed into the 1987 film! His work is classic and I would be honored to hang it on my wall.

Like most other fans here, I don't own an original artwork other than a print. Bernie Wrightson's artwork is always impressive and it'll be nice to actually own an original artwork of his. BTW, great prize for this year.

About 8 years ago my wife & I had grown tired (she more than me) of our house being decorated with, what we called, the "Hollywood Goth" look. You know movie posters from monster movies and Hong Kong action movies, a few sacred movie props, massive Godzilla & Gamera Japanese toy collection and a ton of cool stuff from the store Necromance. http://www.necromance.com/index.php?resolution=800

During an 18 month period of unemployment I had to sell 98% of the Godzilla toys and the stuff from Necromance. "sniff"

Since then, for the most par, we've mainly had nothing but bare walls. The building of shelves for our ever-growing book, movie & massive CD collection has taken up most of that space. It would be nice to have a couple of classy pieces of art that will tell people we haven't really changed all that much without just breaking out the old movie posters.

Just curious... how exactly are you going to "judge" these? Plan on pulling a name out of a hat? I don't envy you -- was reading through these and there are some good (and lame, but still funny) posts here.

No judging at all. I'm going to print out everyone's posts and throw them in a hat (or bag if I can't find a hat) and pull out a winner.

Probably the best way to do it... I wouldn't want to be the one to judge these responses... lol.

Is it a top hat?

Steve,

I would like to win because unlike you who I have met quite a few times im glad to say I have never had the chase to meet Mr. Wrightson, Ever!
He is a pioneer not only in Horror illustrations but comic books in general.
I have been collecting his work since I first saw his illustrations in my copy of Merry Shelley’s Frankenstein. I have been hooked ever since! My favorite comics have to be his 10 issue run on Swamp thing! I can’t say enough about him!
The one chance I did have to almost meet him was a few years back, he was signing at the The Big apple Comic con and I was on the Subway on my way with a load of comics and creep show magazines to get signed and somone pulled the emergency break on the train and we were stuck in the tunnel for almost two hours, by the time I got to the show he was already done signing! So since it seems im Destin to never meet the legend him self the next best thing would be an original page from his new book!!!!!! What do you think huh? Come on Steve admit it! I deserve it don’t I?

-Lou

Hi Steve,

Why I fell I should be the winner of this contest is also my favorite Bernie Wrightson story of all time!

From Jan. 22nd through Feb. 1st of 2008 I was hospitalized in the ICU with pneumonia.

I was on a Ventilator for 9 days, I almost did not make it.

Just before that time I had been watching a Bernie Wrightson Collectible on ebay, A Bronze Bust of Bernie Wrightson's Frankenstein!

While in the hospital sleeping in the ICU I could hear my Mom saying I Got Bernie, I got Bernie, I got Bernie, over and over and over.

(MY MOM HAD NICK NAMED THE BUST BERNIE HA! HA! HA! IS THAT FUNNY OR WHAT!)

I thought I was dreaming.

However, when the DR.s Woke me up 9 days later I Found out it was all true!!!!!!!!!!

My mom had to leave the ICU to Bid on the Bust for me and that She had Won the autcion!!!!!!!!!!

I have the Bernie Wrightson's Frankenstein Bronze Bust!!!!!

Shortly after that I started to recover.

That just shows you how much Bernie's Art means too me!

It even has the power to heal me when I am sick!

To this day, My Mom tells me that leaving my bedside to go bid on the Bust, Was the hardist thing she has ever had to do.

I am greatful that she did!

Thanks Steve!

The Monster,

Nick

I think I should have this piece of art for many of the same reasons as everyone listed above. I basically got into comics based on the horror genre. I own a bunch of autographed issues, and posters, but nothing even close to original art. I think this would be a great prize to win and make the main focus of my room, as well as being original art from the king of the hill artists from the horror genre.
